Ingredients of Mom's Christmas Day Prime Rib
- Prepare 4 lb of Prime Rib - bone in ask butcher to separate bone from the meat.
- It's 2 clove of Garlic sliced into medium pieces.
- You need 1/4 cup of Flour to lightly cover the roast.
- Prepare 1 of Salt, pepper and garlic powder.
- You need 1 pinch of Sprig fresh of rosemary (if desired).
Mom's Christmas Day Prime Rib instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F.
- Cut slits in the roast. Insert garlic pieces into the slits salt and pepper the outside of the roast and sprinkle with garlic powder if desired.
- Gently flour the outside of the roast to cover.
- After 20 minutes on high heat, baste the roast and reduce the heat to 350°.
- Then set the timer for 15 minutes and baste the roast every 15 minutes there after until done.
- Sprinkle the Rosemary over the top of the roast or place the sprig just in the roasting pan put in 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in the roasting pan add the roast put it in the oven at 450 for 20 minutes.
- The roast will be done in approximately 1 1/2 hours or until it reaches any inside temperature of the 130° for rare..
- Remove from oven and let it rest for approximately 20 minutes before serving.
